PRINCETON: Driver injured after car strikes Bank of America building

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
An 82-year-old Princeton woman was injured when the 2012 Honda Fit she was driving struck a concrete post and then the side of the Bank of America building at 370 Nassau Street shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.
Idaherma Williams, 82, of Coppermine Road, had stopped her car at the Bank of America drive-through ATM window when it traveled forward and struck a concrete post with its right front bumper, police said.
Ms. Williams put the car in reverse and backed up, striking the front bumper of a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Carol Codd-Brown, 49, of Clay Street. Ms. Williams’ car traveled forward again and struck the corner of the Bank of America building, crushing the car’s front end.
The Honda Fit had extensive front-end damage, and multiple airbags were deployed, police said. The Chrysler PT Cruiser sustained a bent front license plate and was able to be driven away, but the Honda had to be towed from the scene.
Both women complained of upper and lower body pain, police said. They were taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro by the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad.
Ms. Williams was issued a ticket for careless driving.
