WEST WINDSOR: College adds shuttle service from Quaker Bridge Mall to campus

WEST WINDSOR — In response to growth in Mercer County Community College’s service area, the college will now provide free shuttle service between Quaker Bridge Mall and MCCC’s West Windsor Campus beginning Aug. 31.
The shuttle will run four times a day, Monday through Thursday. This is in addition to the existing shuttle, which provides transportation between MCCC’s Trenton and West Windsor campuses six times a day, Monday through Friday.
According to John Simone, MCCC’s assistant dean of student services, Mercer students in need of public transportation from Princeton, Lawrenceville and Ewing had no direct route to the West Windsor campus. This required them to take an NJ Transit bus to Trenton and then either transfer to a bus stopping at the MCCC campus, or taking the MCCC Trenton-to-West Windsor shuttle — a trip that could take hours. The trip could be particularly problematic during inclement weather.
Since NJ Transit already provides service from those three communities to Quaker Bridge Mall, the location was a natural hub, Mr . Simone said.
“We listened to the concerns of students, parents, and community members, and worked to find a reasonable solution,” Mr. Simone said. “Our priority is to remove obstacles to student success, and through the expansion of shuttle service, we are working to eliminate barriers related to transportation.”
The service is available free of charge to all MCCC students, faculty, and staff with a valid college ID. Children and non-students are not permitted to ride the shuttle.
