PENNINGTON: New blood needed in local government

Rich Dec, Pennington
I was disgusted by the Pennington’s Borough Council’s 5-0 vote against the stoplight at Ingelside and Route 31 and further disgusted by Mayor Persichilli’s “disappointment” in Hopewell Township for having a different perspective.
Pennington’s rationale for opposing the traffic light lacks facts and tugs on emotional cords about increased traffic through our side streets.
As a Pennington resident, who often crosses that intersection, I can tell you I have seen many near misses over the years. It is a dangerous intersection.
For anyone who disagrees, I challenge you to feel fully comfortable letting a loved one cross it five times apiece between 8 and 9 a.m. and between 5 and 6 p.m. on a weekday.
With leadership who “doesn’t see it as an issue,” we clearly need new blood in our local Pennington government and not on our streets.
