HILLSBOROUGH: Three Eagle Scouts recognized by township 

Three township boys who are members of Troop 489 were recognized by the Township Committee with proclamations on Aug. 11.
They are Clement “Tyler” Obropta, Nicholas Athanasiou and Samuel Elliott.
Nicholas, a Ridge High School senior, managed the repair and repainting of the handicap ramp to the Hillsborough Reformed Church Memorial Hall. The work involved removing old and peeling paint, repairing rotted wood and repainting the ramp using non-slip gray paint.
He organized the time of nine Boy Scouts and six adult leaders, totaling 92 hours of work.
Tyler, an Ithaca College freshman, had managed the construction of fencing across the width of the parking lot to prevent cars from sliding down an incline at the Somerset Valley Players community theater.
He organized 16 fellow Scouts, 12 adult leaders and two other adults, totaling 146 hours on the project.
Samuel, a Hillsborough High School senior, designed, bought materials and supervised the construction of an information kiosk at the Oak Spring Girl Scout Camp in Franklin Township (Somerset). The kiosk is a place with girls meet each morning to receive announcements and daily news. He organized 10 other Scouts, four adult leaders and two other adults and worked 163 hours on the project.
