WEST WINDSOR: Six candidates file to run for three Township Council seats

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
WEST WINDSOR — With 10 days left to file for a seat on the West Windsor Township Council, six candidates have turned in nominating petitions to the West Windsor Municipal Clerk’s Office to run in the Nov. 3 general election.
Three seats are up for grabs. The term is for four years. Township Council candidates do not run as Democrats or Republicans, although they may band together as a slate.
Two incumbent Township Council members — George Borek and Hemant Marathe — have turned in their petitions. Mr. Borek is seeking his third term, and Mr. Marathe is seeking his first full term. He was appointed to fill a vacancy earlier this year.
Also running are former Township Councilwoman Alison H. Miller, and political newcomers Ayesha Krishnan Hamilton, Gerald Halloran and Virginia Manzari. The deadline to file a nominating petition is Aug. 31.
