River Road, also known as county Route 567, between Elm Street (county Route 667) and River Road/Opie Road, will be closed for emergency repairs beginning Friday, Aug. 28, according to an announcement from Somerset County.
This segment of roadway will be closed to through traffic for approximately one week until roadway repairs can be completed. A detour route will be posted, using Amwell Road (county Route 514) to East Mountain Road (county Route 677) to South Branch Road (county Route 625) to River Road / Opie Road.
Elm Street Bridge, a one-lane bridge with a weight limit of 3 tons registered gross vehicle weight that traverses the South Branch Raritan River, will remain open, according to county officials. The announcement said there will be no exceptions for oversize or overweight vehicles which are prohibited from crossing this bridge.
