HILLSBOROUGH: Assemblyman Ciattarelli will again shave head for charity

Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli will again shave his head for the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraising event, which aims to raise $40,000 for childhood cancer research.
The event is held in honor of Rayanna Marrero, a Sergeantsville resident known as Ray, who succumbed to cancer in 2012 at the age of eight.
“The St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving fundraiser is a very unique and important annual event,” said Mr. Ciattarelli, who is on the Rays of Hope team. “In being one of many to have their heads shaved, the goal is to call attention to childhood cancers and the need for funding promising research.”
The assemblyman, who lives in Hillsborough, will have his head shaved for the second year in a row during the event at the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company on Sunday, Sept. 27. All are urged to turn out and cheer on all of the shavees. Entertainment, including a DJ, bake sale, food sales, children’s activities and live and silent auctions, are other attractions.
Sergeantsville is part of Delaware Township, which is one of 14 municipalities in the 16th Legislative District that Mr. Ciattarelli represents. Hillsborough, Princeton, Montgomery, Rocky Hill and South Brunswick are also in the district.
“I respectfully ask that fellow citizens please consider supporting my participation in this important event by making a donation through my Rays of Hope team page at https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/788341/2015.
Last year’s event raised more than $53,000. St. Baldrick’s Foundation recently announced a grant for a promising research funded by Rays of Hope.
St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven tax-exempt nonprofit that raises money for childhood cancers research. St. Baldrick’s is the number-one private funder of childhood cancer research, providing more than $176 million for childhood cancer research since 2005. For information, visit www.stbaldricks.org.
