LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP: Police looking for would-be vacuum cleaner thief

By Lea Kahn, Staff Writer
Police are looking for a man who tried to steal a vacuum cleaner from Sears at the Quaker Bridge Mall, and who pushed away two loss prevention officers as they tried to stop him at 5:08 p.m. Aug. 28, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
The would-be shoplifter picked up the vacuum cleaner and walked out of the store, police said. The two loss prevention officers ran out of the store and tried to stop the man. When he realized he was being followed, he dropped the vacuum cleaner.
The loss prevention officers continued to run after him, through the parking lot and toward Brunswick Pike, police said. As one loss prevention officer tried to grab him by the shirt, the suspect spun off him and caused the loss prevention officer to fall.
The second loss prevention officer tried to grab him, but the man pushed him off and continued to run toward Brunswick Pike, police said.
Police searched the area, but could not find the suspect, who was described as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s, and standing 6 feet 1 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall. He had a muscular build, black hair, facial hair and was wearing a dark gray or black T-shirt and dark pants.
