POLICE BLOTTER: Jamesburg

Police responded to a home on Pergola Avenue on Aug.15 on a report of an unresponsive female. Upon arrival police discovered the female was suffering from a heroin overdose. Officer Patrick Smith administered one dose of Narcan and the female began to regain consciousness. Monroe Township Emergency Medical Services along with Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics arrived and transported the female to the hospital for treatment. Officer Smith was trained in the use of Narcan one month ago and this was the first time the Jamesburg Police administered Narcan. 

Officer Smith was on patrol when he observed an off-road motorized dirt bike being operated by a male with a passenger on East Railroad Avenue. Officer Smith activated his police unit’s emergency lights in an attempt to stop the bike. The operator of the bike failed to stop and led the patrolman on a pursuit for several miles through Jamesburg, Monroe Township and Helmetta where the dirt bike driver lost control of the bike and crashed into a gate. Derrick Maresco, 24, of Monroe Township, was charged with eluding, drunken driving and several motor vehicle violations in all three towns. Mr. Maresco was transported to the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge for treatment for minor injuries. After being treated, Mr. Maresco was processed and transported to the Middlesex County Jail pending a court appearance. 
