Alex T. Mitko, son of Donna and John Mitko of Cranbury, was awarded The Matthew Houlihan Prize Scholarship at Hamilton College’s annual convocation, held on Aug. 26. The convocation ceremony officially marked the beginning of Hamilton’s 203rd academic year.
The Matthew Houlihan Prize Scholarship, made possible by an annual gift from the Matthew Houlihan Foundation, was established in 2002 in memory of Matthew Houlihan, Class of 2003. It is awarded to a rising senior who demonstrates solid academic achievement (minimum 3.0 GPA), strong extracurricular involvement, a loyal commitment to classmates, exemplary school citizenship and unselfish devotion to Hamilton.
Mr. Mitko, a senior majoring in neuroscience and sociology, is a graduate of Princeton High School.
Hamilton College is a highly selective residential college offering its 1,850 students a rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Students are challenged to think, write and speak critically, creatively and analytically, so that upon graduation they may distinguish themselves in both their professions and their communities. 

Karandeep S. Randhawa, of Monroe Township, is a semifinalist in the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This academically talented high school senior has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. 
