Seniors to have a special day in Freehold

FREEHOLD — The Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee will host its third annual Senior Appreciation Day from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Monmouth County Hall of Records Annex parking lot, Main Street. Admission is free.

The rain date is Sept. 27.

Senior Appreciation Day was created to recognize senior citizens for their years of service to the community, according to Carol Lida, who chairs the Human Relations Committee.

The event will include information about community services for seniors and feature vendors, crafts, food, entertainment and more.

Gianna Dell’Omo, the vice chairwoman of the Human Relations Committee, said residents from all communities are welcome to attend Senior Appreciation Day.

Dell’Omo said bus transportation will be provided to the event from Freehold Borough’s three senior citizen housing complexes: Hudson Manor, Monmouth Court and The Continental (formerly the Rug Mill Towers).

A sign-up sheet for bus transportation is available at each location. Residents are asked to sign up for the bus by Sept. 15.

Music at the event will be provided by DJ Tommy Lynch from 94.3 FM The Point. Live performances featuring recent Freehold Idol contestants are also planned, according to event organizers.
