At our Oct. 1 meeting, Jersey Harmony Chorus, a sub-group of the Sweet Adelines singing group, will perform. Following the meeting the Health Department will administer flu shots free of charge; bring your Medicare card with you.
Operation Shoebox will return at our Nov. 5 meeting, when we will be accepting nominations for next year’s officers.
Trips & Programs û
 Sun. to Wed., Oct. 4-7 — Four-day trip to Ocean City, Maryland, has been canceled.
 Tues., Oct. 20 — Luncheon theater at the Cock & Bull Restaurant in Lahaska, Pa. Delicious food followed by “Falsettos,” a comedy. Enjoy the outdoor scarecrow exhibit. Cost is $57 for members, $67 for non-members. Depart from Lowe’s at 9:30 a.m. This is sold out, but a waiting list is available.
 Wed. Oct. 21 — Book club meeting at 2 p.m. to discuss format to use, selection of books and how often to meet. Bring your ideas to the Senior Activity Room. All seniors welcome.
 Fri., Nov. 20 — Christmas Spectacular at Radio City, the grandest celebration of the holiday season. Family-style lunch at Carmine’s Restaurant. Cost is $125 members; $135 non-members. Departs from Lowe’s at 9 a.m.

All Hillsborough seniors age 60 and older are invited to join Chapter A. Younger spouses of seniors are also eligible for membership. Dues are $5 a year and new members may join at any meeting. Questions on membership can be directed to Loretta Tansey at 908-359-1171.
On meeting days, doors open at 11:30 a.m., allowing time to review upcoming events and make reservations. Refreshments are available at noon and after the meeting, too.
Throughout the year, Lions Recycle for Sight volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength, and package eyeglasses. They distribute to people where they will have the greatest impact. A drop box for prescription and reading eyeglasses, sunglasses and children’s glasses as well as plastic and metal frames is available in the main lobby of our municipal building.
Our president is Dorrie Guarniero, 908-334-8091. Executive board meetings are the 4th Wednesday of every month unless otherwise noted.

CHAPTER B û
The next monthly meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, which will feature the annual fall luncheon. Doors will open at 10:30, at which time members can buy tickets for upcoming trips and other events. There is no other meeting in October. You must have bought tickets at the September meeting for the luncheon.
The next bingo game will be held Sept. 24. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost of $3 for one card or $5 for two includes lunch with two hot dogs, chips, drink and a dessert, along with prizes and surprises. There will be no bingo in October.
Dues of $10 for 2016 must be paid before the December holiday luncheon or you will lose your membership in Chapter B. You or a friend can pay for you at either the October or November meetings. Reminder: You must also have attended at least five meetings during 2015 to keep your membership.
Volunteers are sought to stuff tax bills on Tues., Sept. 29.
The second annual Senior Olympics will be held Fri., Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ann Van Middlesworth Park. Sign in starts at 9. Free to watch, $10 to participate, $8 for lunch (or bring your own). Call Social Services to register. Rain date is Monday, Oct. 5.
Flu shots will be administered Thurs., Oct. 15, from 2-3 p.m. It’s free with a Medicare card.

 A trip to Octoberfest at Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, N.Y., is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22. Full day of music, eating and dancing. $79. Buy tickets at the September meeting.
 QVC American Treasure tour by tram Wed., Nov. 18, includes a massive collection of Americana from antiques to pop culture. Complete hot buffet in theater room. Guided tour of QVC with time to shop at QVC studio. Buy $70 tickets in Oct. 15 fall luncheon.
 Delicious lunch, music, dancing at Brownstone in northern New Jersey on Thurs., Dec. 31. $78. Tickets sold at November meeting.
