HOPEWELL: Pop Warner round-up

The Hopewell Valley Bulldogs Pee Wees rolled to a 30-0 win over Hamilton Blue. The pass blocking of Kyle Pisauro, Tommy Vanover, Max Rosse, Jack Hutchinson, Brooks Hogan and Sam Cortina allowed quarterback Devin Higgins to complete over 12 passes to five different receivers, including a 30-yard strike to Aaron Jones. This opened up the running game and Tyler Jameson capitalized with three TD runs of more than 15 yards.
The defense, led by nose tackle Declan MacCabe and cornerback DJ Hunt, made it nearly impossible for Hamilton to move the football. By the mid second quarter, Hopewell had opened up a 24-0 lead while Blue was still looking for their initial first down.
A second half TD pass to Cole Pinto completed the scoring. The defense has not allowed a point all year; nor has an opponent entered the red zone.
The Junior Midget team rolled into Hamilton last weekend and rolled out with a 33-0 victory. As usual the team was led by their defense, with the line of Greg Riley, Nick Melillo, Jacob Janel, Dane Aguilar-Aasted, Cooper Silver, Mariano Dinardo and backed up by safety Ben Simon they set the tone for the contest.
The offense, anchored by center Ryan “Mr. Reliable” Cenicola and navigated by Brett Confer, ran several of their big boys who were able to move the ball consistently down the field. Ritchie Primus, Dylan Caldwell, Tyler Robbins, Noel Amankwaa, Derek Doldy, Hudson Hartman and Tyler Smith all contributed with carries.
The Bulldogs opened up the scoring on the first drive when Terence Peterson rumbled in the endzone from short yardage. Matt Carom then took a reverse to run in the extra point. On the next possession, the offense would need only one play when AJ Primus took a toss 50 yards and galloped for a touchdown. Matteo Rodriguez pounded in the extra point.
After another stop by the Bulldog defense AJ Primus took a punt and returned it 60 yards for another touchdown as the Bulldogs went into halftime with a 21–0 lead.
The second half saw Michael Amankwaa catch a 10-yard touchdown pass from CJ Szafranski. Approrpiately, the defense capped off the scoring when Trevor Radice forced a fumble which was scooped up by Terence Peterson, who then ran it 30 yards for the game’s final score.
