Royce Brook junior golf team headed to national tournament in Florida

A team of junior golfers from Royce Brook Golf Club in Hillsborough is headed to Florida after its winning performance in the PGA Junior League Golf Mid-Atlantic Regional last weekend (Sept. 12-13) at Hampshire Greens Golf Course in Silver Spring, Md.
Royce Brook competed against three other teams, and will advance to the PGA Junior League Golf Championship Nov. 5-8 at Disney’s Palm Course at Walt Disney Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Team New Jersey is headed to the championship for the third year in a row. It won all three matches on the weekend to defeat two teams from Virginia and one from Philadelphia.
Royce Brook’s team captain/coach is Anthony Latham, a PGA member. On the team are Louis Giovi, Jeffrey Li, Eegan McDermott, Arav Patel, Owen Rossman, Joshua Ryan, Calen Sanderson, Ethan Trinh, Hannah Trinh and Franklin Zhu. Alternates are Katie Li and Logan Paczewski.
PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 13 and younger. Kids learn the game with their friends in a recreational environment under professional instruction and direction of PGA/LPGA professionals (team captains).
Participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams in a popular scramble format.
After playing regular-season matches, 10-player all-star teams comprised of players within the league were assembled. The all-star teams competed in sub-regional championships in their areas with the winners earning a spot in one of the eight regionals held throughout the country. The eight regional champions advance to the PGA Junior League Golf Championship.
