HIGHTSTOWN: East Windsor PAL soccer round-up

The East Windsor PAL U12 Thunder claimed the Lacey Labor Day Tournament by going 2-0-1 inn three games.
Hightstown defeated Freehold (5-0), and host Lacey (4-0), then battled Premier club Twin County Fusion to a 1-1 draw, which was enough to clinch the championship.
Izzy Del Toro led all scorers with five goals. Isabella Benitez scored two, and Calleigh Kosman and Teresa Allison each had one. Madison Bressler was phenomenal in goal all tournament.
The U10 Arsenal won two of three in the Lacey tournament. After dropping a tough 2-0 decision to the Marlton Lightning, the Arsenal came roaring back with 7-1 victories over Lakehurst-Manchester and Howell.
Scoring for the Arsenal were Angelina Benitez, Rachael Charsky, Anna Zappola, Allie Szelag, Megan Khazem, Charlotte Garcia, Abigail Carter and Tanya Aughenbaugh with several assists coming from Marcella Hirshman. Benitez, Charsky and Radha Ghate each won individual MVP medals.
The Arsenal made their debut in MOSA Premier Division with a come-from- behind 2-1 victory over the Wall Rockets. After giving up a late first-half goal, Arsenal came out on fire in the second half with two goals from Alayna Giampolo on assists from Allie Szelag and Charlotte Garcia.
Rachael Charsky led the physical defensive line in front of outstanding goalkeeping from Radha Ghate and Angelina Benitez.
Starting the fall season strong, The U14 Storm defeated Marlboro’s Comet 6-1. Grace O’Leary scored four goals, with three assisted by Julia Gorajek. Gorajek scored the second goal of the game assisted by Julia Pendino. Ragan McKenna finished it off assisted by Payton Rupp.
The majority of the game was spent in the offensive zone thanks to defensive containment from Lizzy Barrett, Nikki Masone and Mia Sandoval.
