Residents ready for good time at Marlboro Day celebration

MARLBORO – The 32nd annual edition of Marlboro Day will be held at the municipal complex on Wyncrest Road and residents will gather to celebrate their community.

Marlboro Day will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 20. The rain date for the event is Sept. 27. Marlboro Day will feature food, entertainment, vendors and free rides. Residents of all communities are welcome to attend.

Recreation Director Ted Ernst said there will be upwards of 150 vendors on hand selling goods and promoting services, ranging from clothing and craft jewelry to insurance companies, gyms, medical professionals and real estate professionals.

“It’s a good way for (people) to see what is around; there are a lot of businesses and people around who do things for the community and with the community,” Ernst said.

Food vendors will offer pizza, cheese steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers, Japanese teriyaki BBQ, fried pickles, fried ravioli, mozzarella sticks, fries and fruit shakes. Dessert treats will include funnel cake, ice cream, deep fried Oreos, popcorn, Italian ices and cotton candy.

There will be a rock climbing wall, an accelerator slide, a racecar obstacle course, a bounce house, a trackless train, a kiddie Ferris wheel and more.

Marlboro Day will feature demonstrations and entertainment, with appearances from Noble Productions, singer Emily Photis, the Marlboro High School dance team and cheerleading squad, Monmouth Gymnastics Academy, Master Park’s Black Belt Academy, Dance Attitudes, Premier Gymnastics, the Liberty Oak Chorus, Center Stage Dance and Theatre and the Black Belt Academy of Marlboro.

The event “is a way to bring the community together to celebrate Marlboro and see what’s here,” Ernst said. “We are a very diverse town and there is a real sense of community in Marlboro.”

The primary sponsors for the event are First Energy/JCP&L and TD Bank.

Full ride sponsors include The Doctor’s Office Urgent Care, CME Associates, CentraState Healthcare System and the Marlboro Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.

Half-ride sponsors include Century 21 Cateneo and Associates, Kelvin’s Basketball Associates, Master Park’s Black Belt Academy and Baymar Farm.

Ernst thanked Mayor Jonathan Hornik, the members of the Township Council, the Marlboro Police Department and municipal employees for their help in making the day a success.
