The 29th annual Hopewell Harvest Fair will be held on the grounds of Hopewell Elementary School on Princeton Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 27.
Activities for children of all ages include full-day pony and wagon rides, a petting zoo, games, inflatables, make-your-own scarecrows, face-painting, sand art, games and more.
There will be old-fashioned country fun: A bake-off, homegrown vegetable displays and a straw maze to explore.
Entertainment will go on all day with performances by the Hopewell Valley Central High School Marching Band, local bands and more. Visit the Harvest Fair website — hopewellharvestfair.org — for the lineup.
In addition, there will be contests for all: Kids’ art and Lego, photography, doggie dress-up and the bake-off.
The live scavenger hunt, Find Freddy and his friends, will go on through the day. The fair needs volunteers to serve as living clues so visit www.tinyurl.com/findfreddy to sign up.
The farmers market will offer flowers and produce for sale from many local farms.
In the Business & Exhibitors Alley fairgoers will have the chance to learn more about many local businesses and local nonprofit organizations, including those committed to sustainability at “Green Lane.”
There also will be local food vendors and a crafters’ tent.
The Hopewell Harvest Fair is a fundraiser for a community grant program that provides support for nonprofit organizations doing work in the Hopewell Valley. A percentage of all proceeds from the fair goes directly to the program.
Since its inception, almost 30 years ago, more than $200,000 has been distributed to local groups. Attendance at the fair will help ensure funds again will be dispersed this year.
Nonprofit organizations wishing to apply for 2015 grants can now find applications at the Hopewell Public Library or online at www.hopewellharvestfair.org/community-grants/. Applications are due by Oct. 16.
