HILLSBOROUGH:  Dukes flag teams step it up 

This Sunday, the Dukes yellow flag team played the Clark Crusaders. The first flag pull of the day was from Caden Walinsky. The Dukes went on to score two touchdowns in the first half on runs by Caden Walinsky and Logan Jankowicz. The second half started with an impressive run by Sanjay Mills, followed by a touchdown by David Nissel. Bryce Hayden, Sanjay Mills and Caden Walinsky led the team with multiple flag pulls.
The Dukes red flag won, 5-3. Scores were brought in by Ryan Spinelli, Jayden kolans, Quinn Hayden, William Vander Vliet and Matt Deville. Red flag defensive MVPs were Quinn Hayden and William VanderVliet with key stops.
The Dukes Mitey Mite team played their 4th game of the season Sunday with a solid performance against the Bound Brook Crusaders. The Dukes put the ball into the end zone four times on the day. Cole Hayden had a strip and fumble return to kick off the scoring. Hayden added to the scoring with a long TD run along with Logan McDermid and Jack Moran. Jason Roser, Moran and Vinny Mistretta added PAT runs.
The defensive line held Bound Brook in check and paced the Dukes to a shutout. Standout performers were James Grohe, JB McCrea, Julian Brunelle, McDermid, Mistretta and Moran. Thomas Connaughton, Austin Sieberg and David Dewberry added strong performances on both sides of the ball.
The Mitey Mite team will travel the next three weeks before coming home to end the season. They are off to Watchung Hills on Sunday, followed by trips to Clark and Phillipsburg.
The Dukes Jr. Pee Wee teamed played their fourth game on Sunday against Bound Brook at the Hillsborough High School.
In the opening minutes, Jack O’Donnell ran straight down the field, scoring the first touchdown. Bound Brook matched that TD. Alex Bettinnez, had strong carries, and along with other key players, such as Mike Caparosa and Shayne Powell. In giving Bound Brook a run for its money, all the JPW players played hard, and, despite the loss by one TD, never gave up.
The Dukes Jr. PeeWees will play Sunday at noon against St. Cecelia’s in Iselin. 
