EAST WINDSOR: Food Truck Farm Fest postponed to Nov. 7

By Jennifer Kohlhepp, Managing Editor
The Food Truck Farm Fest at the Tri-County Cooperative Auction Market has been postponed due to local officials’ concerns with possible inclement weather.
Locals won’t be able to explore culinary creativity and craft brews while supporting the Wounded Warriors Project until the rain date — Nov. 7. Pompier Catering and Cuisine has partnered with the farmers cooperative at 619 Route 33 to host the festival as a means of assisting military service members who have been injured in the line of duty.
Proceeds from the Food Truck Farm Fest will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services for injured military veterans and their families.
The festival will feature food trucks, a farm market, pumpkin carving, and music.
Pompier will offer a fusion menu of eastern European to Tex-Mex delights. Jersey Devil will have a barbecue rolling. Five Sisters will make gourmet sliders and other sandwiches. Mexi-Flip will have tacos on the menu. Chimney Cakes will offer both sweet and savory pastries. Zinna’s mobile bistro and its large menu will be on site and Woodfire Pizza will toss Neopolitan pizzas.
VFW Post 5700 will provide the craft brews.
“They’re using the vendor Hub City and through them will offer a selection of craft brews including harvest ales, Samuel Adams Octoberfest and local hard cider,” Chef Scott Belgard, of Pompier Catering and Cuisine, said.
The live bands will include Nectar and Ambrosia and Philios.
While the organizers’ mission is to raise money to help more than 52,000 servicemen and women who have been injured in the recent military conflicts, they also want to highlight Jersey produce, farm-to-table and buying local.
“It’s the future,” Chef Belgard said. “There’s the wholesomeness of it, the community networking and supporting local farms to keep them up and running. It’s also about good nutrition.”
The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 7. Admission is $5 and there are family packages available.
“This is a family-friendly event,” Chef Belgard said. “Food truck events have become very popular and this is going to be a good day to come out and enjoy great food, great music, craft beer and relax for the day.”
Parking will be available on site, with overflow parking at Hightstown High School.
“There’s a path to the market by the football field that will be labeled with signs,” Chef Belgard said.
