HILLSBOROUGH: Democrats to watch presidential debate

Hillsborough Democrats will gather to watch the first Democratic presidential candidates debate on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Pizza ’n Pasta, 930 South Main Street, Manville (just north of the Central NJ Airport).
“Democrats will learn about the announced candidates while having a good time with good friends and good food,” said John Beggiato, chairman of the Hillsborough Democratic Organization. “It’s never too soon to get ready for a presidential election. Hopefully this debate event will get Democrats and unaffiliated people energized about participating actively in next year’s campaign.”
Democrats have six declared candidates for president: Lincoln Chafee, Hillary Clinton, Lawrence Lessig, Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders and Jim Webb. Vice President Joe Biden is exploring the possibility of running, and may decide before the debate whether to run.
“This debate will be voters’ first opportunity to see these candidates side by side discussing issues of importance to our country,” said Anne Iannone, vice chair of the local Democratic organization. “It will be more enjoyable watching and discussing this debate with local Democratic friends and activists in a fun setting.”
Different kinds of pizza made in a wood-burning oven, as well as soda, will be served in a private room with a large-screen television. A price of $15 per person is asked to cover the cost of pizza and soft drink. A cash bar will be available.
Checks can be made payable to “Hillsborough Democratic Organization“ and mailed in advance to: HDO, 62 Peterson Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844 or online payments may be made at www.democratsforhillsborough.com.
