A YMCA employee and camp counselor has been charged with sexually assaulting two young boys.
Alex Farkas, 25, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge, was arrested and charged Sept. 25 with one count of aggravated sexual assault, and two counts each of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to authorities.
Employed as a school bus monitor by the Edison Branch of the YMCA and as a camp counselor at the Oakcrest Family Swim Club in Edison, Farkas was charged during an investigation by Detective Michael Horvath of the Edison Police Department and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation began after one of the victims told a relative about the alleged assaults, police said.
The investigation determined that while working as a bus monitor and camp counselor, Farkas allegedly sexually assaulted a boy on the bus and at the camp on numerous occasions between March and September.
In the second, separate case, Farkas was charged with allegedly improperly touching another boy on the bus on various occasions between July and September.
Farkas is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick, waiting for bail to be set.
The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Horvath at 732-248-7344, or Heck at 732-745-3600.
