Faith Lutheran Church at 381 South Branch Road will hold a Christian church service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, designed specifically to support children with special needs and their families.
“Joyful Noise” is a specially designed service that will be energetic, fun-filled and geared to children and their individual relationship with God, said organizer Viktoria Wargo,
This service is appropriate for children with autism, PDD-NOS, ADHD, Down’s Syndrome and any other developmental/physical challenges.
All behaviors will be acceptable at the short service (30 minutes), which will have an optional Communion.
Participation is optional as each child’s ability permits.
The church is wheelchair accessible, and there will be fellowship and snacks following the service.
Catering to short attention spans, the service will be a combination of music, movement, prayer, Bible stories and communion. The essential message of God’s love and joy for all of his children is presented in a simplified, meaningful way.
This service brings together children with disabilities and children without disabilities to learn together, and from each other, in an atmosphere of understanding and acceptance, said Ms. Wargo.
