By Jay Scott, Special Writer
The Dukes Jr. Pee Wee team outlasted the St. Cecelia’s Golden Knights, 33-26, on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The Dukes started in front with TDs from Alex Bettinnez and Jack O’ Donnell.
The lead exchanged hands several times. The Dukes saw great runs from Justin Le Bron, Mike Caparosa and Logan Press, as well as tackles by Lucas Scott and Nick Colombaroni.
Bettinnez in particular had a stellar game, both offensively and defensively. His play and a couple more TDs from players such as Jazz Nicolas, the Dukes pulled ahead using sheer desire and dedication to execute play patterns learned from the coaching staff.
The Jr. PeeWees play at Watchung Hills on Sunday, Oct. 10.

The Mitey Mite Hillsborough Dukes team played Sunday against the Watchung Hills Wolverines. The Dukes put the ball into the end zone twice against a team that had given up zero points on the season. Logan McDermid and Cole Hayden had touchdown runs. Jackson Jankowicz and Jack Moran added PAT runs.
Adam Fidziukiewicz added key blocks to set up the first score and PAT, while Moran completed a long pass to Hayden to set up the second touchdown.
The defense bent, but didn’t break against Watchung. The Dukes only allowed one touchdown after an early interception in the end zone by Hayden prevented another score.
Standout performers were Julian Brunelle, Ben Nortbut and David Dewberry.
The Mitey Mite team will travel to Clark on Sunday. That game will be followed by a trip to Phillipsburg and a home game to wrap up the season against Maplewood/South Orange.
