I want to take this opportunity to endorse the independent candidates running for Eatontown Council — Virginia East and incumbent Anthony Talerico.
Here is our chance to acknowledge their heroic efforts in helping to defeat the development of Old Orchard Golf Course. At a time where there are so many vacant buildings and the redevelopment of Fort Monmouth, they did this at the expense of going against their own Democratic party line for the protection of our quality of life. Going forward, both candidates have the experience in dealing with complex issues and removing party influences from getting in the way of finding workable solutions. Their actions have already demonstrated the preservation of our neighborhoods and a rekindled community spirit.
