Former Committeeman David Sandahl began his recent editorial with a quote from the musical “Hamilton” where Aaron Burr belts out, “Talk less, smile more. Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for.”
Mr. Sandahl neglected to note Alexander Hamilton’s reply, “Burr? Sir? Is there anything you wouldn’t do? “
Mr. Sandahl’s letter demonstrates that there is very little his opponents wouldn’t do to contort and misrepresent the record of Mayor Harvey Lester.
Harvey Lester’s belief in limited development, preserving Hopewell Township’s bucolic nature, and his attentiveness to the considered opinions of Hopewell Township residents, has made him the voice of the people!
Harvey Lester publicly denounced the PennEast Pipeline, blocking the county Democrats, who permitted PennEast to conduct an exploratory drill on Baldpate Mountain, potentially destroying its delicate ecosystem.
Harvey Lester broke the deafening silence of the past Democratically led Township Committees, initiating a lawsuit for the return of nearly three-quarters of a million in tax dollars, which had been languishing in the state’s coffers for five long years. Harvey Lester won the award for the township in a few short months, the proceeds of which will now be rebated to the township in the form of affordable housing credits.
Harvey Lester held 14 public budget meetings, cutting away unnecessary spending with the precision of a surgeon’s scalpel. Harvey Lester has proven to be the standard bearer for sound fiscal stewardship; but you cannot delete history with one stroke. The township is still saddled with the unwieldy debt of previous Democratically led committees, following their massive Pennytown-Kooltronic scheme, and their sprawling Scotch Road Town Center proposal.
Harvey Lester has demonstrated strong leadership, independence, and dedication to all the residents of Hopewell Township. On Nov. 3, I urge you to re-elect Harvey Lester for Hopewell Township Committee.
