Michael O. Gayle, 46, of Trenton, has been charged with shoplifting and trespassing for entering the Walmart store at the Nassau Park shopping center and attempting to take a sweatshirt and a hat from the store at 3:43 p.m. Oct. 14, according to the West Windsor Township Police Department.
A Walmart loss prevention officer told police that he was aware that the West Windsor Township Municipal Court judge had ordered Mr. Gayle not to return to Walmart. Mr. Gayle appeared in Municipal Court in connection with a shoplifting complaint, police said.
When the loss prevention officer reported for his shift at Walmart, he told police, he was surprised to see Mr. Gayle in the clothing section of the store. Mr. Gayle put on a sweatshirt and a hat and left the store without paying for them, police said.
When the loss prevention officer confronted Mr. Gayle, he put the items down in the vestibule and fled. Police were called and began to look for Mr. Gayle. He was apprehended in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods store and taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $500 bail.
