By Amy Batista, Special Writer
ROBBINSVILLE – The Cranbury Police Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) Lodge No. 68 participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey’s Second Annual Dodgetoberfest Tournament.
“This is the second year that Cranbury Police F.O.P. Lodge No. 68 participated,” said Patrolman Michael Cipriano.
The event was held at the Robbinsville Fieldhouse on West Manor Way on Oct. 24.
Participants included Michael Cipriano, Greg Pfremmer, Ryan Dworzanski, Jill Dworzanski, Matt Schneider and Jeff Rapach. Doug Mayer also was there to cheer the team on but was unable to play due to a work-related injury, according to Patrolman Cipriano added.
“We raised just over $700 for the Special Olympics,” Patrolman Cipriano said. “We unfortunately did not win, but we had a great time playing and raising money for a great cause.”
All proceeds go to advancing the goal of Special Olympics New Jersey to provide free year-around training and competition in 24 Olympic-type sports to more than 25,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities, according to www.dodgetoberfest.org.
Patrolman Cipriano said that overall, it was a great time.
“We as a police union are proud to support the Special Olympics, at not only this event but also their Torch Run, which is held in June.”
