The JCC of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Rd., Edison, will host Dale Russakoff, author and journalist, to discuss her new book, “The Prize,” which focuses on the Newark school system, at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10.
Russakoff describes the journey of the Newark school system, the $100 million pledge by Mark Zuckerberg to transform the downtrodden district, the extreme economic inequality, the charter school movement, and the struggles and triumphs of schools in one of the nation’s poorest cities.
A home-cooked lunch will follow the presentation. The cost for the lecture and lunch is $19 by Nov. 5, and $22 from Nov. 6-9. There is no registration on the day of the event. To register, stop by the JCC.
