Library announces history programs

The Metuchen Public Library, 480 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen, will hold two history programs on Nov. 8.

At 2 p.m., author Gordon Bond will present a program about the train crash of the Pennsylvania Railroad commuter train known as “The Broker” that derailed in Woodbridge on Feb. 6, 1951. Following the program, there will be a short break for refreshments, and copies of the society’s new book, “Greetings from Metuchen and Edison,” will be for sale.

The Borough of Metuchen’s Historic Preservation Committee will then give a short introduction and presentation about how Metuchen became known as the Brainy Borough. Complimentary copies of a grant-funded booklet will be available.
