Incumbent school board member Patrick Sullivan and newcomers Elizabeth Baglio and Dafna Kendal on Tuesday won seats in the race for the Princeton Board of Education.
Ms. Baglio was the top vote-getter at 2,428 votes, followed by Mr. Sullivan at 2,306 and Ms. Kendal at 2,032. Challenger Robert Dodge finished fourth with 1,780 votes.
In a phone interview Wednesday, Ms. Baglio talked through a hoarse voice to say she was “thrilled” and “humbled” at winning. She said she is “ready to get to work.”
Mr. Sullivan said Wednesday that he was looking to continue “our work to improve an already great school system.” He said he also looked forward to working with Ms. Baglio and Ms. Kendal.
Asked why he thought he won, Mr. Sullivan said he thought voters recognized the district is moving forward with a strategic plan designed to improve the public schools.
“The voters make these decisions, and it’s up to the rest of us to stand by them,” he said.
The three winners will take their oaths of office in January. Board members are unpaid and serve three-year terms.
Mr. Dodge said Thursday that he had enjoyed campaigning, and thought it was “great” that there was so much interest in the race. He said he has not ruled out running for school board again.
