HOPEWELL: Jewelry store robbed of $7,000 in earrings 

Police were called to the scene of a jewelry store robbery on Saturday afternoon.
At 3:30 p.m. two black men and a black woman entered Freedman’s Jewelry on Route 31. Police said one of the men distracted an employee and a man and woman removed a tray containing multiple sets of diamond earrings and fled the store. The value of the jewelry was estimated at $7,000.
Officer George Peterson investigated, with Detective Frank Tulko.
 Police also reported three charges of driving while intoxicated.
— On Nov. 4 at midnight, Officer Lincoln Karnoff responded to a motor vehicle crash of a 2003 Chevy on Wertsville Road near Minnietown Lane. He spoke with driver, identified as Rodolfo Rodriguez-Sanchez, 39, of Seminary Avenue, Hopewell.
Officer Karnoff allegedly smelled the odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and person. After roadside sobriety testing Mr. Rodriguez-Sanchez was placed under arrest for DWI and taken to police headquarters. He was released to a friend after being charged with DWI, reckless driving and driving without a license. His case will be heard in municipal court.
— An officer avoided what he said was an impending head-on collision on Nov. 4, turned around and stopped and charged the driver.
At 3:35 a.m. Officer Nicholas Sparaco was on patrol on Route 546 near Ingleside Avenue when a 2011 Nissan drove at his vehicle head-on traveling east in the westbound lane. Officer Sparaco avoided the vehicle and was able to stop it on Ingleside Avenue.
He spoke with the driver, identified as Brian D. Byers, 51, of Liberty Way, Valencia Pa., and allegedly detected the odor of alcohol on his breath and person. After roadside sobriety testing Mr. Byers was placed under arrest for DWI, reckless driving and careless driving. He was taken to headquarters, where he was released to a friend. His case will be heard in municipal court.
— On Nov. 7 at 1:13 p.m. Officer Robert Voorhees charged Camille C. Campbell, 38, of Bellevue Avenue, Trenton, with driving while intoxicated. She was stopped on Scotch Road for driving a 2004 Mazda with tinted windows. She was placed under arrest and taken to headquarters, where she was released to a friend. Her case will be heard in municipal court.
 On Nov. 7 at 8:15 a.m. Officer Robert Voorhees was on patrol on Route 579 near Harbourton. He saw a man he knew had a warrant for his arrest from Lawrence Township drive past him in a Ford pickup. The male was wanted for criminal charges and entered into the national crime computer as a wanted person.
The man, identified as Richard J. Eastmead, 50, of Rossa Avenue, Lawrenceville, was stopped by Officer Voorhees and taken into custody. He was transported to Lawrence Township and turned over to that department.
 Officer Kevin Koveloski arrested Xavier J. Upshur, 23, of Parkway Avenue, Trenton, on Nov. 6 at 8:30 a.m. for having and trying to use a counterfeit $100 bill at Starbucks on Denow Road. Mr. Upshur was placed under arrest and taken to headquarters, where he was found to have a pending warrant for his arrest from Trenton. He was released after posting bail. The U.S. Secret Service assisted in the investigation.
 On Nov. 6 at 11:45 p.m., Officer John Ferner investigated what he considered to be a suspicious vehicle on Bear Tavern Road and ultimately arrested the driver, identified as Cody G. Wood, 19, of Morrisville, Pa., for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia (a grinder). He was processed and released. His case will be heard in municipal court. 
