SOUTH BRUNSWICK — There are a lot of happy feet across the western hemisphere, thanks the efforts of the community at large.
The Cleats For Kids soccer cleat drive collected almost 200 pairs of used cleats, in many colors and various sizes, to be sent to children in Central America.
“We would like to send out a note of appreciation to thank everyone who helped,” said Azra Baig of South Brunswick, who helped coordinate the effort with Samia Baig, also of South Brunswick.
Steve Shilling, president of the Mid-Atlantic Soccer Showcase League (MSSL) and the Soccer For All organization were especially helpful, as were the South Brunswick Soccer Club, the Princeton Futbol Club, the Old Bridge High School girls’ soccer team, Rovers International Soccer Camps and Clinics and the Rutgers University Newark women’s soccer team.
Drop off locations included The Fields Sports Complex in East Brunswick, the South Brunswick Public Library, Princeton Soccer Experience, Ewing Sports Retail, South Brunswick High School, Jersey Knights Soccer Club, the Islamic Society of Central Jersey and Noor-Ul-Iman School.
“Everyone’s efforts are sincerely appreciated and will benefit children in need in Central America,” Azra Baig said.
