FREEHOLD — The Downtown Concert Series will present Moscow-based pianist Anna Pavlova in her North American recital debut on Nov. 21 at St. Peter’s Church, 33 Throckmorton St.
Pavlova has performed in international competitions and has toured extensively throughout Russia and Europe, according to a press release.
Her recital in intimate St. Peter’s Church will allow audience members to see her perform in a personal way not possible in large concert halls, according to the press release.
Pavlova will open her program with one of the most demanding works of the 20th century, a setting of the ballet “Petrushka” by Igor Stravinsky, written as a tour de force for Arthur Rubenstein by the composer himself.
She will follow that up with the equally demanding fantasy “Islamey,” written by the Russian composer Balikarev. Pavlova will also perform works by Franz Liszt.
Tickets are $25, and $10 for students 18 years old and younger. Seating is limited and tickets should be purchased in advance. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. A reception honoring Pavlova will be hosted by Investors Bank, 21 W. Main St., following the concert.
