The driver of a tractor-trailer truck escaped injury after it struck a guardrail near mile marker 69.4 on the New Jersey Turnpike and burst into flames early Monday morning, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Blaise Marckesano, 56, of Shirley, N.Y., was traveling north on the New Jersey Turnpike when he lost control of the tractor-trailer truck and hit the guardrail at 4:45 a.m. Monday, said Lt. Brian Polite of the New Jersey State Police.
The Cranbury Fire Department responded to put out the fire. The tractor-trailer truck was towed from the scene, and repairs were made to the guardrail, Lt. Polite said.
