Children’s book author to visit library

The Old Bridge Library will continue its Local Author series with a presentation by children’s book author Carmen Rubin at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.

The Manalapan-based Rubin, who is known for her works including “The Gifted Guitar” and “Ashti Meets Birdman Al,” will read from her books, copies of which will be available for purchase and signing during the event. A founder of the Community Refuge Education and Recreation Center, a nonprofit youth organization, she also is a supporter of NBA player Dwayne Wade’s World Foundation, which aims to give “every child a shot at reading.” Her works are inspired by music and the lives of musicians.
