SOMERSET COUNTY: Libraries accept donations for animal shelter 

Somerset County libraries will accept donations for Somerset Regional Animal Shelter through Friday, Dec. 11.
Nine of county library system branches — Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Manville, Mary Jacobs Memorial, North Plainfield Memorial, Peapack-Gladstone, Somerville, Warren Township, and Watchung — will serve as drop-off locations.
Suggested donations (new) include canned and dry cat and kitten food; canned & dry dog food; cat and dog toys; non-clumping clay cat litter; dog leashes and collars; postage stamps; paper towels; bleach; laundry detergent; and Gift cards for any pet store, food store, Walmart, Target, or Agway.
“Somerset Regional Animal Shelter depends on volunteers and public donations,” said Edith Lit, a library assistant and coordinator of the donation collection. “This is our 16th year of fulfilling holiday wishes in our community. We always receive huge support from our staff and our patrons.”

Somerset Regional Animal Shelter is a municipal organization that provides animal control services for designated areas and care for about 1,000 lost, abandoned, and surrendered animals each year. The shelter is at 100 Commons Way in Bridgewater and is open seven days a week, 12-4 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesdays, noon-7 p.m. 
