Restaurant plans art opening, holiday gala

An artists’ reception and Christmas at Fiddleheads event are set for 2:30-4 p.m. Dec. 13 at Fiddleheads Restaurant, 27 E. Railroad Ave., Jamesburg.

New Jersey artists Barbara Friedman of Freehold, Yimeng Ling of Edison and Fred Linke of East Brunswick will host the free opening reception for the restaurant’s Winter 2015-16 Gallery Show. The exhibit will include complex watercolors, inks, oils, collages and acrylics, framed and ready for sale, and ornate woodcarvings from reclaimed Florida cypress. Also featured will be the framed work of nature photographer Jennifer Wiessner of Cumberland, Maine, formerly of East Brunswick. Fiddleheads has sponsored quarterly exhibits of local artists since 2004. Shows are curated by Selena

Palmer and Paula Feifer, both members of the Suburban Artists Guild, based in East Brunswick.

Christmas at Fiddleheads, a holiday reception to view the show and visit with the artists and the restaurant owners and staff, also will take place. Complimentary light refreshments, courtesy of the artists and Fiddleheads, will be served during the reception. The restaurant will not be open for a-la-carte seating during the reception, but will open for dinner at 4:30 p.m. at the conclusion of the event. Reservations for the reception are not required.

Fiddleheads will award a $10 restaurant gift certificate with any framed art purchase above $50. Cash and checks are accepted forms of payment for artwork.
