American Cancer Society thanks county residents for assistance

On behalf of the American Cancer Society’s volunteers and staff, I would like to thank the residents of Monmouth and Ocean counties for their generosity and support of our annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

More than 5,000 people participated in this year’s event in Point Pleasant Beach, raising more than $475,000 for American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy and patient services.

A special acknowledgment goes out to the hundreds of breast cancer survivors who led us in our walk; they are the reason we continue to fight. They give us hope and remind us of the importance of early detection.

We are also grateful to the volunteers who did an outstanding job of pulling the community together — we would not have been able to do it without them.

Again, thank you for supporting the American Cancer Society, and remember, it’s not too early to become involved in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for next year. To find out how, contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345.
