Mrs. Massey, 92, of Hazlet died July 25 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she resided in Keyport prior to moving to Hazlet in 1947. She and her husband were owner/operators of Rollo’s Charcoal Grill, Keyport, from 1949-87. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the North Centerville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Hazlet. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, George W. Massey Jr. in 1983; and a daughter, Patricia Pease in 1997. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, George W. and Gee Massey III of Morganville, and Frank T. and Thomas H. Massey, both Hazlet; two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara and Bob Monahan of Keansburg, and Joan Massey of Union Beach; a son-in-law, Ed Pease; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be July 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A funeral service will be July 29 at St. Joseph’s Church, with interment to follow at the church’s cemetery.
Joseph Bell
Mr. Bell, 86, of Manalapan, died July 20 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Englishtown for 34 years before moving to Manalapan, where he had resided for the past 24 years. Prior to retiring in 1986, he was a purchasing agent for Washington Forge, Englishtown, for 62 years. Surviving are his wife, Lillian; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Eileen Bell of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Scott Feldman of Lakewood; a sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Steve Ford of New Paltz, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, followed by burial at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Englishtown. Iris W. Eldridge
Mrs. Eldridge, 81, of Howell died July 19 at home. Born in the Adelphia section of Howell, she was a lifelong Howell resident. Prior to retiring in 1996, she was a substitute teacher and aide in the Howell school district for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church and its Women’s Auxiliary, Adelphia, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Adelphia Fire Co., Howell. Mrs. Eldridge was predeceased in 2003 by her husband, Kenneth N. Surviving are a son, Raymond W. Eldridge of Howell; two brothers, Arthur Wagner of Jackson and William Wagner of Manasquan; four sisters, Ruth Schreiber of Adelphia, Carolyn Wilkins of Manasquan, Dorothy "Dot" Blatchey of Freehold and Adrien Aumock of Virginia Beach, Va. A funeral service was held at C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia, followed by interment at Adelphia Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, P.O. Valerie O’Keefe
Mrs. O’Keefe, 54, of Manalapan died July 14 at home. Born in New York City, she had lived in Mahopac, N.Y., Concord, Calif., and Sparks, Nev., before moving to Manalapan in 1982. She worked in the warehouse of Barnes & Noble, Dayton section of South Brunswick, for five years. Surviving are her husband, Joseph; three sons, Joseph, Scott and Daniel, all of Manalapan; her mother, Eleanor Gonzalez of Florida; and two sisters, Barbara Tomkins of Florida and Diane DiPiero of Jackson. A funeral service was held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by entombment at Marlboro Mausoleum.
