Upgrades at Little Silver train crossing to start

LITTLE SILVER — Beginning on or about Thursday, July 7, and continuing for about two weeks, NJ Transit (NJT) will make repairs to the SycamoreAvenue grade crossing at Little Silver Train Station.

The work, which includes renewal of the track bed and road surface, should result in a smoother ride for motorists traveling over the crossing, according to a press release from NJT.

To accommodate this work, Sycamore Avenue will be closed to motor vehicles at the Little Silver Station. NJT customers requiring access to the parking lot at Ayers Lane and Sycamore Avenue will follow a posted detour around the crossing.

NJ Transit is advising customers of the following:

To access the parking lot at Ayers Lane and Sycamore Avenue, travel northbound on Branch Avenue, make a left on White Road, left on Route 35/Broad Street, left on Sycamore Avenue, right on Ayers Lane and a right into the parking lot.

Customers may need to board trains from a different platform due to possible track changes/single tracking during offpeak hours on weekdays and weekends. Please listen closely to boarding announcements at the station.

As an alternate, customers may wish to travel to the Long Branch station, where there is paid daily parking available, or a little farther south to Elberon Station, where there is free parking.

Customers should allow extra travel time due to possible traffic delays.
