Stephen Specht of Shrewsbury received a bachelor’s degree at the spring graduation of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University, N.Y.

Daphne Anayiotis of Rumson received a bachelor’s degree at the spring commencement exercises of Columbia College of Columbia University, N.Y.

Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Mich., announced the following students were awarded degrees at the spring commencement exercises:

Kasey C. Hall of Red Bank, bachelor of science; and

John J. Connors of Tinton Falls, master of science in administration.

Centenary College, Hackettstown, announced the following local graduates at its spring commencement exercises:

Michael James Dougherty of Red Bank, bachelor of arts degree in political science; and

Lakashia L. Ward of Fair Haven, bachelor of arts degree in English.

Christina Infanti of Tinton Falls was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Ithaca College, N.Y. A graduate of Monmouth Regional High School, Tinton Falls, she is majoring in clinical science and physical therapy.

Five seniors at Red Bank Catholic High School have been named "Commended Students" in the 2001 National Merit Scholarship Program, announced Principal Robert Abatemarco.

Honored students were: Lauren Eckberg, Holmdel; Jonathan Mummolo, Colts Neck; Mary Beth Sullivan, Allenwood; Margo Villadelgado, Middletown; and Katherine Zaleski, Brielle.

Commended students are recognized for exceptional academic promise, and place among the top 5 percent (of 1 million) students on the 1999 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Edmund F. Fitterer Jr. of Oceanport was recently awarded a scholarship by the Monmouth Bar Foundation. He is a third-year student at Seton Hall University, South Orange.
