The annual “New Owners Seminar,” a day-long program designed for those new to ownership or those considering the purchase of their first racehorse, will take place this year May 13 at the Meadowlands, East Rutherford.
The program covers such topics as the costs, risks and rewards as well as how to select a trainer and a racehorse. The program will start at 1 p.m., and the guest speakers include current horse owners who will share their experiences and their advice. A trip to trainer Bruce Saunders’ stable on the Meadowlands’ backstretch will be included as part of the behind-the-scenes tour, followed by a night at the races.
Almost 600 have attended the seminars all across the United States, with more than 150 eventually purchasing racehorses.
The seminar is free, but preregistration is required. For more information or to register, contact Ellen Harvey of Harness Racing Communications, (732) 780-3700 or e-mail [email protected].
Those attending the seminar, which is sponsored by the Meadowlands, Hanover Shoe Farms and the United States Trotting Association, will receive a one-year subscription to the harness racing industry magazine Hoof Beats.
