MILLSTONE — It is unlikely that the Millstone River Inaugural Ride will take place this year.
Originally scheduled for Oct. 3, the ride was postponed to Oct. 17 or Oct. 18 due to rain. Inclement weather predicted for both Oct. 17 and the rain date of Oct. 18 forced cancellation of the ride.
Millstone Trailblazers spokeswoman Audrey Ginolfi said the group has not made plans to reschedule the ride, which would require looking into Wagner Farm Park availability and coordinating with New Jersey State Police and emergency services.
The Trailblazers scheduled the ride to celebrate their completion of the first of five trail loops that will comprise the Millstone Township Trial Network. The Millstone River Ride would have showcased a loop of nine contiguous trails totaling about 10 miles, according to the group’s website.
Those who registered for the ride will receive a commemorative tote containing gifts from sponsors valued in excess of the tax-deductible $20 registration fee. They will also receive a $10 coupon from A & S Salumeria, 480 Route 33 West, Millstone, in lieu of the lunch planned for the event and a map of the open portion of the Millstone River Loop.
Mark Blackwell, of the Millstone Trailblazers, and Pat Butch, of the Millstone Township Open Space and Farmland Preservation Council, thanked those who supported the ride and encouraged the patronage of the sponsors: Rick’s Saddle Shop, Conselina Hay Feed & Supply, Crisdel Group, Sportcraft Ltd., Millstone Family Pharmacy, The Chapter House Restaurant, The Tiger’s Tale, A. Norton Septic Contractors and A. Norton Waste Disposal Service.
