Sayreville, South Amboy and Woodbridge will receive portions of a combined $330,595.34 grant from the Clean Communities grant program.
The grant, secured by Senator Joseph F. Vitale (D-19), Assemblyman Craig J. Coughlin (D-19) and Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski (D-19), will award $68.2 million to Sayreville, $14.1 million to South Amboy and $154.4 million to Woodbridge.
Municipalities may use the funds for litter cleanup and removal, education programs to promote clean communities, graffiti abatement and enforcement of local anti-littering laws, among other activities.
According to a release from Coughlin’s office, the Clean Communities Grant is administered by the New Jersey Clean Communities Council, a 501(c)(3) corporation funded by the Clean Communities Act and private-sector donations. The statewide program distributes information and education about littering and waste disposal.
