Larson named AARP grassroots coordinator

Lee Larson of East Brunswick recently was named grassroots coordinator for the AARP New Jersey Central Region. In this new position, she will work with AARP members and chapters and other senior organizations in Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties. Her key goal will be to organize seniors around AARP’s advocacy and community service initiatives.

Working with AARP staff, Larson will implement grassroots organizing strategies to influence policymakers on the organization’s advocacy objectives. She will help recruit volunteers, coordinate lobby activities and work with the media. A network of county and community coordinators, including Middlesex County coordinator George Vassilades and Monmouth County coordinator Pat Freeman, will report to Larson.

A retired educator, Larson is married to Sy Larson, Ph.D. She also is vice president of AARP Chapter 4855, East Brunswick.
