HOWELL — The Township Council has introduced two ordinances that relate to public safety.
The ordinances were introduced at the council’s Aug. 17 meeting and will be the subject of a public hearing and possible vote for adoption at the council’s Sept. 21 meeting.
The first ordinance creates a no parking zone along the entire length of Bry Avenue and a no parking zone along the entire length of Calloway Street.
Bry Avenue is off Squankum Road (Route 547) and Calloway Street is off Larrabee Boulevard.
According to the ordinance, a survey of the area determined there were an insufficient number of signs posted to enforce the 25 mph speed limit on Bry Avenue and Calloway Street. Additional signs will be placed on the thoroughfares to make the 25 mph speed limit clear.
The second ordinance establishes a 40 mph speed limit along the entire length of Larrabee Boulevard, which runs between Squankum Road and Alexander Avenue, and makes the entire length of Larrabee Boulevard a no passing zone. The speed limit is being reduced from 50 mph to 40 mph.
