Alejandro Sanchez and Kerry Dyke won the opening races of the Freehold Area Running Club’s 33rd Annual Summer 5K Race Series.
Sanchez was the first overall finisher in the 5K race held inside Manalapan’s Battlefield State Park June 24, posting 18:14. Ethan Seltzer (18:29) and Andrew Comito (18:34) were second and third.
Dyke captured the women’s race in 18:39 and was fourth overall. Rachel Kenny (21:30) and Brynn Peterson (22:02) were second and third. The summer race series will continue on Wednesday evenings through July 29. The 5K starts at 6:45 p.m. (registration begins at 5:45.
In addition to the 5K, there are Half- Mile and Mile Run races for ages 8-andup that start around 6:20 p.m.
