Troop 258 honors Eagle Scouts

HOWELL — Boy Scout Troop 258 recently honored its members who, in 2014 and the first quarter of 2015, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. A Court of Honor was held in April.

According to a press release from Troop 258, Luciano Catuogno reconstructed the play area at the First United Methodist Church Daycare Center in Farmingdale. He also built new play structures for the children. Luciano graduated from Howell High School and is attending Montclair State University, majoring in computer science.

Sean Yim created gardens at the Monmouth County SPCA, Eatontown, to grow fresh food for the animals in the shelter. He also constructed cat scratching posts and stands. Sean will graduate from Howell High School this year. He plans to attend Brookdale Community College to pursue a culinary arts degree and to eventually earn a food services and hospitality management degree.

John Dupuis rebuilt and restored portions of the historical battlefield fences and cleaned up areas that were overgrown at Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Manalapan. He is attending the Monmouth County Academy of Law and Public Safety and intends to complete his degree at Brookdale Community College and to pursue a career in law enforcement.

John Espinos III prepared, cleared, built and marked several miles of trails in Howell’s Bear Swamp Nature Area for the community’s enjoyment. He will graduate from Jackson Liberty High School in Jackson this year. He plans to attend Mercer County Community College to pursue an environmental science degree and aspires to be a conservation officer.

Tim Morris constructed fishing line recycling collection systems and installed them at several lakes in Howell. Tim is currently pursuing an accounting degree at Brookdale Community College and plans to further his education in marine biology in Florida.

Kevin Reinknecht organized a kayak fishing event for wounded veterans and their families at the Manasquan Reservoir, Howell. He worked with the Monmouth County Park System and the New Jersey Chapter of Heroes of the Water to hold the event. He secured all the equipment from Heroes of the Water, who also helped guide the veterans and their families.

Kevin obtained local support and food donations from Howell’s Chick-fil-A and Stop & Shop for all the participants and volunteers. He will be graduating from Howell High School this year. Kevin plans to attend Brookdale Community College to pursue an associate’s degree in accounting and to eventually pursue an undergraduate degree at a university.

William Carroll constructed a raised planting bed and a perimeter walking area around it at Howell Middle School North for use by children in the special education program. William plans to attend the Philadelphia School of Arts after graduating from Howell High School this year.

Sean Yim, John Espinos III and Kevin Reinknecht also earned their Eagle Bronze Palm.
