The main house, built by Dr. Samuel Forman (1764-1845) in 1820 and later occupied by his son John Fisher Forman, originally stood at the northeast corner of County Highway 537 and East Freehold Road, where the original stone smokehouse can still be seen. The elliptical arch portico, paneled door surrounds, two-story south wing and dormers are among the Colonial Revival modifications of the 1930s made by architect J. Hallam Conover of Freehold. The house was moved to its present location at 378 East Freehold Road, Freehold, in the 1960s by Peter Saker of the Saker family. The gracious grandeur of this six/seven bedroom, four/two bath home is enhanced by 9-foot first-floor ceiling height, wood flooring, hand-hewn beams and arched doorways throughout the main level. The elegant dining room, restored in 2011, has beautiful handcrafted wainscoting and one of seven fireplaces. The gourmet kitchen with custom cabinetry will delight the most discerning chef.
