The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation will be conducting a T-ball basics class this summer. Session one will be held at Beaver Dam Park in Point Pleasant from 11 a.m. to noon on Mondays from June 30-July 14. Fee is $9 per child. Session two runs Mondays, 11 a.m. to noon from July 21-Aug. 1 at Beaver Dam Park. Fee is $12 per child. The third session will be held at the beach complex in Lakewood on Wednesdays (July 2-16) from 11 a.m. to noon. Fee is $9 per child. The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation will be conducting a beginner soccer program for children ages 5-8 this summer. Players will learn the fundamentals of the sport, as well as teamwork, strategy and sportsmanship. Session one will be held at Beaver Dam Park in Point Pleasant from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Mondays from June 30-July 14. Fee is $9 per child. Session two runs Wednesdays, 1:30-2:30 p.m. from July 2-16 at the Lake Shenandoah Sports Field Complex in Lakewood. Fee is $9 per child. The third session will be held at Patriots Park in Jackson on Tuesdays (July 22-Aug. 12) from 9:30 -10:30 a.m.. Fee is $12 per child. All participants are asked to bring their own soccer ball. The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor a baseball clinic by the Lakewood BlueClaws. The clinic is free for children of all ages. There will be some instructions as well as a question-and-answer period. Bring your own items to be autographed and a camera for photos with the players and mascot. The clinic will meet at the Ocean County Park, beach complex, Route 88 in Lakewood July 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. The program will be held rain or shine. Registration is now in progress for an exceptional six-week instructional gymnastics program for boys and girls ages 3-13. The program will be held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. from July 1 through Aug. 6 in the Lakewood High School gym. Classes are for beginners, intermediate gymnasts and "gym bugs" (ages 3 and 4). Fee is based on the number of classes taken per week ($35 per class).

The Baseball Pitching Machine League for Lakewood children (ages 8-14) is currently holding registration. The league includes instruction and play on Mondays and Wednesdays. Games are held at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Larry D’Zio Field (jayvee baseball field) from June 30 to Aug. 6. All equipment except gloves is provided. Proof of age is required.
